Siftek™ Membrane System
Vaperma Siftek™ membranes are made of polymers and are extruded into fibers using a wet/dry-phase, inversion-spinning process. A typical membrane module contains thousands of fibers that are embedded into a thermoset resin that is bonded to a ring seal within a stainless steel pressure vessel.
The module may be heat traced and installed depending on the application. Modules may be connected together in series or in parallel to create the ideal configuration for each site and type of application.
Siftek™ membrane's surface area is standardized. Each Siftek module is 1800 mm in lenght. Each module is a registered pressure vessel with a 150 psi (10 bar) pressure rating.
The feed gas flows into the membrane modules, which contain multiple hollow fibers packed in a shell and tube configuration. For example, ethanol is "dewatered" by selective transport of water vapor through the membrane. Water vapor is carried away in the permeate stream under vacuum conditions. The module typically operates under a total pressure of 2-3 bar within the hollow fibers and a partial vacuum outside of the membranes.
